For all new volunteers, come get a comprehensive tour of the Carson City Shelter facility, learn about the work we do here, and how you can get involved.

Facility Tour: learn about the the behind-the-scenes operations of Carson City Shelter. Explore the spaces where we make a difference in the lives of our furry friends.

Introduction to Our Work: Gain insights into the meaningful work we do and the positive impact we strive to create for animals in need.

Discover Your Role: Learn how you can contribute and make a difference. Whether you have a specific assignment in mind or are open to exploring opportunities, we're here to guide you.

Q&A Session: Have burning questions? This is the perfect time to ask! Our team will be on hand to provide information and address any queries you may have.

Notes:

Volunteers must be 13 years old. Volunteers between the ages of 13-15 must have adult supervision with them while volunteering.We do not accept court-ordered community service volunteers at our Carson City campus.

Volunteer: RENO: Court-Ordered Community Service Orientation

This is the orientation for court-ordered community service. Once you complete the orientation, you can come in any day of the week 8am-6:30pm to complete your service hours. Please only sign up for one orientation date. 

When you arrive, please bring a copy of your:

Photo ID Court paperwork stating what your charge is. 

If you only have digital copies, they need to be emailed to volunteer@nevadahumanesociety.org prior to the start of the orientation. If you do not bring the appropriate paperwork to the orientation or arrive late to the orientation, you will not be allowed to complete the orientation.

Notes:

We do not accept offenders with violent charges into our community service program.  When you arrive, the front doors will be locked. A staff member will come out at 9am to let you into the building. If you arrive after 9am, you will need to reschedule yourself for another orientation date.  Court-ordered community service volunteers under the age of 18 must have adult supervision with them while volunteering.
