Are you passionate about the great outdoors and want to make a positive impact on your local environment? Join us as a Forest Ambassador and play a vital role in preserving the natural beauty of our local trails while promoting responsible dog ownership and supporting the Nevada Humane Society's mission.

Role and Responsibilities:

As a Forest Ambassador, you'll be a vital part of our team, working to create a cleaner, more dog-friendly, and enjoyable experience for hikers and their canine companions. Your responsibilities will include:

  1. Dog Waste Awareness: Educate hikers about the importance of cleaning up after their dogs to maintain the cleanliness and hygiene of our beautiful trails.

  2. Poop Bag Distribution: Hand out eco-friendly poop bags to dog owners, making it easy for them to responsibly dispose of their pets' waste.

  3. Trail Etiquette: Promote responsible dog behavior on the trails, such as leash use where required, minimizing noise, and respecting wildlife and other trail users.

  4. Community Engagement: Build and strengthen our relationships with the Parks Foundation and the National Forest Foundation, fostering collaboration for the betterment of our local natural spaces.

  5. Nevada Humane Society Advocacy: Help spread awareness about the Nevada Humane Society's mission, services, and events to those you encounter during your ambassadorial duties.

Requirements:

  • Enthusiasm for the outdoors and a commitment to preserving our natural spaces.
  • A love for dogs and a desire to promote responsible dog ownership.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A passion for animal welfare and the Nevada Humane Society's mission.

Housekeeping:

  • Volunteers between the ages of 13 and 15 must have parental/guardian supervision while volunteering.
  • This opportunity takes place outside, so please dress appropriately.
