Due to an unexpected breach of the barrier during our annual Duck Race, rubber ducks have found their way into the river. To mitigate further damage and prevent their migration to lakes and Tribal lands, we have initiated a week-long clean-up effort. We invite you to participate in our conservation endeavor by joining one of our two scheduled river clean-up events or by contacting us to receive information on additional clean-up locations that you can independently assist with.
On Monday, August 14th, please meet at our Reno shelter to get started. More details for the Saturday, August 19th clean-up with Keep Truckee Meadows Beautiful will be posted this week.
Email aoverli@nevadahumanesociety.org for a list of locations if you are able to do independent duck clean-up this week.
Please refrain from entering the river for safety reasons. Should you encounter difficulty reaching ducks from the shore, kindly make note of the location and communicate it to aoverli@nevadahumanesociety.org for further action. Your active participation will contribute to the protection and preservation of our natural environment.
